What We Believe

Connect City Church West is a Pentecostal movement, affiliated with the Australian Christian Churches.

We believe that there is but one God, who is the maker of all things visible and invisible, eternally existent in three persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4, Matt. 28:19,20)

We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, His virgin birth, that He is the incarnation of God, very God of very God, for Whom and by Whom all things were created. (John 1:1-14, 14:9, Isaiah 7:14, 9:6, Matthew 1:18-25)

We believe in The Holy Spirit, the third Person in the Trinity, proceeded from the Father and the Son and is of one substance, majesty and glory, with the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit convicts and regenerates the sinner, and sanctifies and guides the believer into all truth. (John 14:16-17, 15:26, Matthew 3:16, 1 Thessalonians 4:8, Ephesians 4:30, Acts 13:2-4)

We believe that the Holy Scriptures embodied in the Old and New Testaments (all 66 books) is the verbally and plenary inspired written Word of Almighty God. We believe in its infallibility and inerrancy in the original and accept its authority in matters of faith and life. Thus anything not found therein must not be enjoined. (2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:19-21, Matthew 24:35, John 5:39)

We believe in the personality of the devil who by his influence and power, brought about the downfall of man and now seeks to destroy the faith of every believer of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Genesis 3:1-5, Matthew 4:1-11, Luke 4:1-13, James 4:7, 1 Peter 5:8, John 13:2)

We believe in the Salvation of Man. We believe that through repentance toward God and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, man receives the forgiveness for all his sins and the gift of eternal life—the salvation of his soul. This is known as the new birth, the “born again” experience wherein man becomes a new creation in Christ Jesus. (Titus 2:11, 3:5-7, Acts 20:21, Romans 10:9-10, 1 John 5:11-13)

We believe in Water Baptism. That is, single immersion in water in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit is symbolical of our death, burial and resurrection with our Lord Jesus Christ. (Matt 28:19-20, Acts 8:35-39,10:48, Rom 6:3-5, Col 2:12)

We believe in Sanctification. It is the glorious privilege of every believer in Christ to be made pure in heart and wholly sanctified through the operation of the Holy Spirit. (John 17:15-19, Romans 12:1-2, 1 Thess 4:3-4, 5:23-24, Hebrews 2:11, 10:10-16)

We believe in The Baptism in the Holy Spirit. We are to be filled with the Holy Spirit. It is a command and promise to all believers to be received by faith. A physical Manifestation may accompany this glorious experience. (John 7:37-39, Acts 1:4-5, 2:4, 8:15-19, 10:44-47, 19:1-7, Gal 3:2, 14, Mark 16:17)

We believe in Divine Healing. We trust our heavenly Father to protect and heal our bodies from sickness and disease. We believe that Divine Healing for the body was purchased for us by the atoning blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, and that by His stripes we were healed. (Exodus 15:26, Isaiah 53:4-5, Matthew 8:16-17, 1 Peter 2:24,Psalm 103: 3-4, James 5:14-16, Mark 16:17-18)

We believe in The Lord’s Supper. In accordance with our Lord’s command, we partake of this sacrament remembering His words, “This do ye in remembrance of Me”. (Luke 22:15-20, Matt 26:21-28, 1 Cor 11:23-26)

We believe that God is the builder. “Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain.” (Ps 127:1)

We believe that all plans are God-initiated and all labor are God-driven. Hence, we must pray until we know and understand the mind of the Lord. What is God’s standard for the temple that He will inhabit? In building both the spiritual and physical house, we first need to understand the design that God has articulated in His Word. Jesus is the foundation of the building. “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.” (1 Cor 3:11)

We believe we are God’s partners and fellow workers. “For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.” (1 Cor 3: 9)

We believe we are to walk only in the path that God has prepared for us, for His way is perfect and by His Spirit, He makes our way perfect (Ps 18: 30-32-33).

We believe we are to walk without any compromise, not looking to the right or to the left but focussed only on Jesus. The Second Coming of Christ. It is our glorious hope and earnest expectation that our Lord will soon return. Having this hope we purify ourselves even as He is pure so that we may be ready to meet Him when He comes to gather His people to Himself. (John 14:1-3, 1 Thess 4:17, 2 Thess 2:1, Ezekiel 37:22-25, Daniel 7:13-14, Zechariah 14:4-9, Revelations 11:15)

We believe in the Punishment of the Wicked. We believe in the everlasting punishment of the wicked (in the sense of eternal torment) who willfully reject and despise the love of God manifested in the great sacrifice of His only Son upon the cross of Calvary for their salvation. (Matt 13:49-50,2 Thess1:8-9, Rom 6:23, Rev 20:11-15)

We believe in Spiritual Gifts. The Holy Spirit gives and operates his gifts to the Church today. They are to be exercised in decency and order. (1 Corinthians 12-14)

We believe that the church, the body of Christ is composed of those who, throughout the ages, have been bought by the blood of Christ whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life. (Ephesians 1:22-23, 2:22, Hebrews 12:23, Revelations 20:15)
